Gail Loveland - Executive Director

Gail joined the National Ability Center following her work as Associate Executive Director at the Outdoors for All Foundation in Seattle, Wash. She volunteered with the International Paralympic Committee for the 2010 Paralympic games in Vancouver, Canada. Gail attributes her passion for adaptive recreation to the incredible athletes, families and volunteers who never cease to surprise and inspire her. Over the last fifteen years, Gail has gained experience in the recreation and non-profit fields as a ski and snowboard instructor for Keystone Mountain, Education and Program Director for the Starlight Children's Foundation and Board President of the Washington State Chapter of U.S. Lacrosse. Her free time includes outdoor activities, team sports, and cheering on her home teams like the Philadelphia Flyers. Gail graduated from the University of Vermont School of Business with honors and holds an Executive Certification in Non-Profit Management from Georgetown University.

Ellen joined the National Ability Center in 2008. Originally from Vermont, she attended the Green Mountain Valley School and received a BA from Middlebury College, where she was captain of the Ski Team, two-time NCAA Champions. Following college, Ellen coached the Women’s Nor Am group at Killington, VT, was the Executive Director for the Vermont Alpine Racing Association, and ran the Competition Program for Green Mountain Valley School. After many years launching and successfully running start-ups in the winter sports industry, and serving on the Snowsports Industry Board of Directors as well as on several other national non-profit boards, she discovered the world of adaptive and therapeutic recreation. Her role at the National Ability Center allows her to use her experience and management skills as she oversees the delivery of over 17,000 experiences annually in 12 adaptive recreational and therapeutic programs; she feels very privileged to be part of an organization that positively impacts so many lives.

Kristi has been a long time supporter of the NAC through her eight-year tenure with Granite Construction Company and is excited to have the opportunity contribute in a whole new way. Dasha, an important member of the National Ability Center family and equestrian team, was donated by Kristi in 2005. Along with Kristi’s passion for the NAC's mission and helping others, she enjoys competing in the sport of barrel racing. Kristi has B.A. degrees in mass communication and journalism and speech communication from California State University, Fresno.

Kristen started with the National Ability Center as a winter intern. She fell in love with both the National Ability Center and Park City and decided to stay a while! Kristen has worked with the ski/snowboard, water ski, cycling, and canoeing programs, as well as the intern and AmeriCorps staff. Along with being the NAC Ski School Director, Kristen is a PSIA Intermountain Adaptive Representative. Kristen has a Masters in Therapeutic Recreation from Indiana University and is a nationally Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist. In her spare time Kristen enjoys rock climbing, running, skiing, and several types of cultural dancing.

Jan has been involved with the NAC as both a volunteer and staff for eight years. Before coming to the NAC, she studied business administration at Missouri Western State College. Other than keeping the NAC's four-legged friends happy, Jan also enjoys golf and working with young mustangs.

Larry was raised in southern California and attended Washington State University on a football scholarship. He graduated with a degree in Recreation and Park Administration. Before joining the National Ability Center, Larry was the Park Manager of the Eccles Dinosaur Park in Ogden, Utah. Larry has also been an assistant football coach and strength and conditioning coach at various universities.

Missy has been involved in the adaptive world since June of 2007.  Born and raised in the Midwest, she graduated in 2001 with a degree in Mass Communications (Integrated Public Relations & Advertising with a separate emphasis in Photojournalism) from Minnesota State University Moorhead.  After college she joined AmeriCorps in Washington where she spent 6.5 years in the national service realm in multiple roles.  From 2007-2010 she was employed with the Outdoors for All Foundation in Seattle, WA where she helped lead their marekting and event coordination.  In her spare time she enjoys many aspects of the outdoors, documentary film, art, music and has been an active volunteer with Habitat for Humanity.

During his summer internship with the National Ability Center in 2010 Jeremy developed a passion to provide adaptive recreation to individuals of all abilities. Following this internship he received clinical supervision at the University of Utah Neuropsychiatric Institute and the George E. Whalen Veterans Administration Medical Center.  As Program Director for a group home Jeremy brings six years of experience working with persons with developmental disabilities and has been a volunteer participant with the Utah Tennis Association Wheel Chair Tennis league. Jeremy returns to the NAC as a graduate from the University of Utah with a degree in Therapeutic Recreation and a Research Scholar Designation.  In his spare time Jeremy enjoys adventure hiking, photography, archery, tennis, snowboarding, and is an avid fan of the University of Utah football team.

Outdoor recreation and sports have always been an influential aspect in Sarah’s life, leading to a Degree in Parks, Recreation and Tourism from the University of Utah. Sarah has experienced many spectrums of the field as a Volunteer Coordinator at the Ogden Nature Center, assisting as a Recreation Coordinator in a Municipal Parks and Recreation Department in the City of Malibu and as a snowboard instructor at Solitude Mountain Resort.  She is thrilled to be able to help facilitate positive recreational experiences into the lives of others through the National Ability Center.  She is also excited to continue meeting the inspiring volunteers in the community!

Evan first began working with people of all abilities while attending the University of Tennessee. Evan also went on to receive his Masters in Recreational Therapy from the University of Tennessee. As a graduate student, Evan was the Director of Camp Koinonia which served 142 campers with multiple disabilities as well as coordinator for Project TRIPS (Therapeutic Recreation in Public Schools). Evan moved out to Park City for an internship at the National Ability Center. Evan is currently the program coordinator for Aquatics, Archery, Cycling, Sled Hockey and Nordic programs including Nordic Skiing, Biathlon and Snowshoeing. In his free time Evan enjoys mountain biking, rock climbing, camping, and running.

Tracy moved to Utah from Virginia starting her National Ability Center career as an intern. Since then she has instructed in our equestrian, ski and snowboard, climbing wall and adventure learning programs and was the office manager. She has now settled in as the Internship supervisor, Discovery Camp Manager and is the Assistant Ski and Snowboard program manager. She continues to instruct in our equestrian program two nights a week. Tracy has a degree in Recreational Therapy from East Carolina University and is a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist.

Allie Schneider has been with the National Ability Center as a participant for nineteen years in programs such as snow skiing, horseback riding, water skiing, cycling, and bobsledding. As the Communications and Events Assistant, Allie has worked with national and local news organizations which have visited the National Ability Center, and she helps coordinate all major events at the Center. She is also in charge of the NAC's annual Community Open House held each summer.

Molly fell in love with experiential education and teaching after impulsively signing up for an Expedition Leadership course with the Wilderness Education Association.  One thing led to another, and she graduated from Southern Illinois University Carbondale with a degree in Therapeutic Recreation and a passion to help people see past their self-defined limits.  She started at the NAC as an intern in 2007 and stayed to do 2 years of Americorps service.  After Americorps, she tried to leave Utah, but love of the desert and of people at the NAC brought her back as a ski instructor, adventure learning lead facilitator, and currently, registration coordinator.  In her spare time, she enjoys climbing, backpacking, swing dancing, biking, photography, music, cooking, and textile crafts.

Ray joined the National Ability Center in August 2011 following his work as Head Coach of the United States Ski and Snowboard Association Adaptive Alpine and 2010 Paralympic Alpine Ski Team. Originally from Northern California, he grew up wrestling and racing motorcycles and skiing over spring break. He graduated from Chico State University with a degree in Recreation and Parks Administration in 1988. In 1990, he was introduced to adaptive ski racing by offering to guide for Brian Santos at the USABA Nationals. The duo clicked and went on to win a total of 6 Paralympic gold medals during their career. In 1994 following the Lillehammer Paralympic Winter Games, he attended Boise State University where he received his Masters of Science in Exercise and Sport Studies. Over the past 21 years he has been to 6 different Paralympic Winter Games and in 2011 was recognized as the USOC Paralympic Coach of the Year.

Rena was co-founder of a 500-acre guest estate and equestrian center in north Georgia. Rena worked to create programs that touched the lives of children through riding, built memories during a special event or wedding, and worked to bring her community together. Rena brings a background in marketing, fund/friend raising, and a passion for the National Ability Center's mission of providing outdoor experiences that promote family, community, self confidence, and relationship. Rena will be working closely with all special events that support the National Ability Center. Rena enjoys the small town feel and the eclectic offerings of art, food, wine, and outdoor activities she has experienced in Park City. She loves the melting pot of personalities here and is honored to contribute to touching the lives of so many.
