spore adventure programs iconIt’s time to get off the beaten path! NAC Splore adventure guides will take you away from our basecamp locations and into the wilderness. We draw from decades of experience to adapt adventures, making them accessible to people of all abilities.

Since the first river trip in 1977, Splore has been one of the pioneers in inclusive outdoor adventure. In 2017, Splore joined with the National Ability Center meaning you can sign up for a wide variety of adaptive adventure programs as well as adaptive outdoor sports, recreation and education programs all in one place!

Adaptive River Rafting

 

Choose from day and overnight adaptive rafting trips on the Colorado and Green Rivers. Experience the thrills of whitewater, wildlife, ancient geology, and Native American art and dwellings as you cruise down world-class rapids in one of the world’s most beautiful settings. Whitewater, amazing wildlife and awesome views. Journey through the Colorado river’s amazing Ruby, Horsethief and Westwater Canyons on this amazing 5-day, 4-night trip. This trip is specialized to people with some form of ataxia, their friends and family.

This specialty trip winds its way through Ruby, Horsethief and Westwater canyons on the Colorado River, over the course of 4 days and 3 nights. Throughout this journey participants will be able to take part in yoga and art instruction provided by our partners at Art Access. The last day of the trip ends with a whitewater punch as you traverse through the class IV rapids of Westwater canyon This trip is open to women of all ability levels. Adaptive Mountain Biking

 

Discover Park City, one of IMBA’s first gold-level mountain bike centers! From recumbent fat tire mountain bikes to off-road hand-cycles and a wide variety of 29er mountain bikes, our guides will pair you with the right equipment to explore miles of single track trails, gravel roads and scenic wilderness. Park City’s Round Valley trail system starts just outside the doors of our ranch and features accessible trails like Down Dog and Porcu Climb built in partnership with the Mountain Trail Foundation.

Elevate

ELEVATE HIGH SCHOOL MOUNTAIN BIKE PROGRAM

New in 2016, this program offers the opportunity for teens with differing physical and cognitive abilities to join their high school’s mainstream cycling team! Outdoor Rock Climbing

Utah’s Wasatch Front is home to some of the most sought after outdoor rock climbing routes in the world, and we’re opening it up to everyone! Outdoor rock climbing is one of the fastest-growing recreational activities because it’s adaptable to all skill and comfort levels. Outdoor rock climbing is a challenging, rewarding, and exciting activity for everyone. It doesn’t matter if you have El Capitan in your sights or if this is your first time on the rock, Our guides are trained to help our participants overcome their fears and enjoy the great outdoors in this relaxing and beautiful environment.  Look for our day rock climbing trips near Salt Lake City including the Big Cottonwood and Little Cottonwood Canyons. You can also join multi-day adaptive rock climbing trips at City of the Rocks National Reserve in Idaho.

Paddle Sports

Standup Paddle boarding (SUP) is making a splash in the world of summer recreation! Sign up for SUP, canoeing or kayaking with the National Ability Center at the Jordanelle or Little Dell Reservoir. Instructors will help provide and specialized or adaptive equipment needed to ensure you have an awesome day on the water.

With a wide variety of specialized equipment and teaching methods, almost anyone with a physical and/or intellectual disability can learn to love paddle sports!

 

 

Open Adventures 

Join a group of like-minded adventurer’s in one of our Open Adventures! Whether you come by yourself or bring friends and family, open adventures are great ways to explore new areas, meet new adventure partners and just have a good time. Participants meet at the BCC park and ride for climbing at Dogwood. Light lunch and water are provided by the NAC. No previous climbing experience required, top rope climbing suitable for beginners.

Moab Camping Experience

Kick off the camping season with a fun-filled trip with National Park hikes. Leave on a Friday and return on Sunday. Enjoy time explore Arches National Park and camping with friends and family. Gear provided if needed. Meals include: Friday dinner, Saturday- 3 meals, Sunday breakfast and lunch. Transportation provided for an additional fee.

Uintas Camping
