National Ability Center Commits to Hosting Healing Retreats For Women Veterans with Support from Veterans Trading Company (VTC)

World-class provider in adaptive recreation and outdoor adventures helps female veterans through nature-based empowerment activities.

PARK CITY, UTAH (April 25, 2018) – The National Ability Center, a leading non-profit organization that provides world-class adaptive recreation and outdoor adventures for individuals and families of differing abilities, will host two retreats focused on healing and empowerment for women veterans with the support of Leading Sponsor Veterans Trading Company (VTC) is a veteran owned small business providing superior supply chain solutions to defense contractors. The first retreat will be held July 20-24 and the second retreat focused on adventure sports will be held on September 2-7.

“We’re incredibly excited to be able to offer female-only retreats yet again,” said Katie Richens, Groups and Military Program Manager at the National Ability Center. “This wouldn’t be possible without the financial investment and dedication of our long-time sponsor and partner VTC. We hope to align ourselves with other like-minded organizations to aid us in the continuation and growth of these types of programs and camps geared towards healing and recovery for female veterans.”

Filled with stimulating activities taking place onsite at the National Ability Center in Park City, Utah and offsite at various locations throughout the mountains of Utah, guests will enjoy community with fellow female veterans and partake in rock climbing, mountain biking, horseback riding, camping, hiking, challenge course, watersports, independent outdoor skills and more. Transportation to the National Ability Center, lodging, meals, instruction, and equipment are included in the cost of the retreat, which is approximately $1,500 per person and is covered by the Veterans Trading Company.

“VTC is thrilled to support and collaborate with the National Ability Center whose strong commitment to serving veterans has made an impact on the lives of thousands over the past 30 years,” said John Pierce, Founder of VTC.   “We encourage other organizations in the community to come forward and sponsor these valuable programs which provide healing and recovery for veterans and active service men and women. It is our duty to give back to those who have made sacrifices to serve our country.”

The retreats are designed to encourage a balanced and active lifestyle, self-discovery and learning. Benefits of attending include renewed strength and confidence, a safe space to connect with other supportive female veterans, and building an unshakeable base for healthy, balanced life skills.

The organization serves 6,600 individuals annually through 37,000 experiences of which 1,500 of those are service members and their families. To cover all program costs and welcome 36 women total across both retreats, the National Ability Center is actively seeking additional partners to co-sponsor these retreats at the silver and bronze levels. Sponsors play an integral role in covering costs of camps, travel, healing resources and more for veterans.
