Outdoor recreation and enriching times are ahead of you as part of our team. The National Ability Center welcomes volunteers year-round to assist within a wide selection of opportunities. From recreational programs, fundraisers and outreach events to office help and much more. Below is a list of highlighted volunteer opportunities. Winter Volunteer Needs

Make this winter your most rewarding ever! Join us on the mountain, at the arena, in the office or for an event. We guarantee  you’ll make a difference!

Ski and Snowboard Volunteer Instructor

Ages 18+
This is an advanced volunteer role. Independently instruct children and adults of all abilities to learn how to ski or snowboard, and how to advance their skills. See the job description for more information. A minimum four day training is required, as well as a minimum 20 day commitment for the season. Please submit cover letter, resume to Anna at annad@discovernac.org and fill out a volunteer application.


Ski and Snowboard Assistant

Ages 18+
Ski and snowboard assistants work alongside an instructor on ski and snowboard lessons, getting equipment ready, getting on and off lifts, providing support and encouragement during lessons and having fun as well. This is our biggest volunteer need for the winter.

We have lessons just about every day of the week from December 1-March25! Email skivolunteer@discovernac.org to get started.

Ski and Snowboard Peer Partner Program

Ages 11-17

Volunteer with a youth participant 3-5 weeks in a row. Lessons are about 3.5 hours on Friday afternoon, Saturday and Sunday morning and afternoon. Make a friend, have fun and help someone learn to ski or snowboard! Email skivolunteer@discovernac.org for the application. Space in program is limited.

Mountain Guide

Ages 18+
This is an advanced volunteer role. Learn how to independently guide intermediate to advanced skiers and snowboarders around the resort who do not require instruction. Email skivolunteer@discovernac.org to get started.

Training required (you only need to attend 1):

  • Dec. 10, 10am-3pm
  • Jan. 8, 10am-3pm
  • Feb 18, 10am-3pm
  • March 11 10am-3pm


Visual Impairment (VI) Mountain Guide

Ages 18+
This is an advanced volunteer role. Learn visual and verbal cues to independently guide participants with visual impairments around the resort. Email skivolunteer@discovernac.org to get started.

Two day training required: January 4 & 5 9am-4pm each day.

EQUESTRIAN VOLUNTEER: Ages 14+ Do you love horses and helping others? The Equestrian program is the one for you! Empower our participants and help care for our horses. We run this program year-round. Come to a training and great ready to work with some amazing people and horses! No experiences necessary- just a love of horses and people!
